A New Kind of Luxury Experience in Nantucket
For its 10th anniversary, The Vault Nantucket created something entirely new: The Residence, a six-week celebration of couture jewelry, fashion, beauty, wellness, food and community at Ten Easy Street.
The idea was ambitious. We wanted to create more than a luxury pop-up on Nantucket. We imagined a home where exceptional brands could tell their stories, clients could discover something unexpected and friends could gather throughout the summer. Every room, garden event, conversation and dinner was designed to feel personal, joyful and distinctly Nantucket.
When I opened The Vault at 33 Centre Street 10 years ago, I wanted to create a destination for fine and couture jewelry that felt personal, welcoming and unlike anywhere else. Over the past decade, my team and I have brought together designers with distinct points of view, extraordinary craftsmanship and stories worth sharing. With The Residence, we extended that philosophy beyond the jewelry case, pairing world-renowned names with emerging talent, local businesses and memorable experiences.
Over six extraordinary weeks, The Residence demonstrated what is possible when the right brands, people and place come together.
Week One: Opening the Doors to The Residence
The Residence opened on July 1 with CADAR Fine Jewelry, Taller Marmo’s Italian-made occasion wear and a special curation of accessories from Balmain and Cavalli.
The opening days set the tone for the summer. Guests gathered in the garden for an intimate luncheon featuring Calvisius Caviar and a delicate 3-course menu presented by Chef Kyle from PPX. Taller Marmo’s flowing kaftans later moved through the garden during an intimate fashion presentation, while the week concluded with mahjong, pastries and coffee in the garden.
It was a warm, elegant beginning - and the first glimpse of The Residence as a place where couture jewelry, fashion and hospitality could live together naturally.
Week Two: Jewelry Stories, Vintage Collecting and the Art of the Pivot
Week Two welcomed Stephen Webster, one of my earliest jewelry inspirations and a close friend. His distinctive fine jewelry was joined by a special selection of vintage watches and Hermès bags from Iconic Timepieces and exceptional vintage automobiles from Caruzn Customs.
Nantucket weather can quickly change even the best-laid plans. When wind and rain affected travel and outdoor programming, our team and partners adapted. A casino night filled the Speakeasy. A planned vintage car rally and collectors’ panel moved indoors, where I led the conversation accompanied by a BHAKTA Spirits whiskey tasting. Downstairs, guests settled in for an indoor mahjong afternoon.
The week closed with an intimate Calvisius Caviar tasting led by Chiara Carfi, VP of Calvisius, followed by a one-of-a-kind crab boil prepared by Chef Maggie, wine tastings from Tirananza and a beautiful table scape created by Tania Bulhões.
The week reminded us that thoughtful planning matters, but so does expert pivoting, trusted relationships and the ability to preserve the guest experience when circumstances change.
Week Three: A House Filled With Fashion and Fine Jewelry
Week Three gave us the opportunity to celebrate Nantucket by Design, a week that brings so much creativity and inspiration to the island in benefit of the Nantucket Historic Association. We began with an open-house shopping experience featuring Diane Kordas and Hosted by Kelly Gaudreau.
Johanna Ortiz and Fernando Jorge attended the Residence for four days with their beautiful ready-to-wear and fine jewelry collections. We welcomed the Nantucket by Design community with a summer barbecue made by Deb Lily in collaboration with Elms Interior Design and Ten Easy Street, followed by a cocktail party featuring Scanlan Theodore, a roaming luncheon with Johanna Ortiz and a garden pop-up with Bluemercury and the Maria Mitchell Association.
Seeing fashion, fine jewelry, interiors and the Nantucket community come together under one roof felt like a true reflection of what we had hoped The Residence would become: a place for exceptional design, new discoveries and genuine connection.
Week Four: Mahjong, Wellness and Time to Reconnect
Week Four began with a beautiful mahjong experience in the garden featuring Walters Faith, Queen Bee, OYE Swimwear, Partou Soleil and Centre & Spring. We invited expert Mahjong instructor Jenny Seaman aka 'MahJenny' and her team to The Residence, where she offered 2 days of mahjong lessons in the Speakeasy and guided afternoon open plays in the garden. It became even more than we had imagined, and with a full house of attendance and fun.
What made it so special was watching friends and clients connect around the tables while taking a few hours for themselves during the busiest part of the Nantucket summer. Those slower, shared moments were exactly what we wanted The Residence to make possible.
The house then transformed for a wellness takeover with Higher Order Palm Beach, alongside jewelry from Octavia Elizabeth, Robinson Pelham and Melissa Kaye. Yoga, Pilates, IV therapy, saunas, Oracle Readings, sound baths, and a magical full moon party with Spirit Water and Little Saints keeping everyone hydrated throughout. Joey Prixx piercings from Boston made the guests ears sparkle a little more!
We loved the balance of movement, stillness and a little indulgence - and seeing fine jewelry become part of an experience that invited everyone to slow down, reconnect and enjoy something entirely different.
Week Five: Authors, Entertaining and Western Gold
For the final two weeks of The Residence, Marky’s Caviar transformed the Speakeasy into a destination for private and guided caviar tastings.
Suzanne Kalan, Frances Valentine and Lulu Powers then took over the house for a garden soirée filled with jewelry, fashion and conversation. Celebrity Chef Lulu Powers brought together a guided conversation with Elyce Arons of Frances Valentine and decorated author Elin Hilderbrand, creating an afternoon that felt personal, inspiring and rooted in women supporting women in business.
Then we went West with Hoorsenbuhs, Canty Boots and Montana Territory hats, it was beyond fun to bring a little bit of Montana to Nantucket and showcase true artisanal craftmanship.
That contrast - fine jewelry, Western style, storytelling and quiet moments in the garden - captured the freedom at the heart of The Residence. Different worlds could meet under one roof and somehow feel completely at home together.
Week Six: A Bucket-List Finale with Dolce & Gabbana
Our final week brought The Residence - and the celebration of The Vault Nantucket’s 10th anniversary - to an unforgettable close.
For the very first time, Dolce & Gabbana came to Nantucket with an extraordinary curation of ready-to-wear and fine jewelry. It had been a true bucket-list dream since The Residence was only an idea, and seeing the house filled with the brand’s unmistakable Italian craftsmanship was beyond special.
With Marky’s Caviar continuing in the Speakeasy, we welcomed Living with Ivey, Fleur du Mal, Lenox and Sixteenth, Flamingo Estate, Gold Nails by Alisa and Cheryl Fudge. Fashion, beauty, fragrance, jewelry and hospitality filled the house as our final days unfolded.
Closing the doors after six weeks was emotional. What began as a dream became countless memories, new friendships and the most incredible way we could have imagined celebrating 10 years of The Vault Nantucket.
From the entire Vault team and I, thank you to every brand, designer, founder, partner, practitioner, friend, client and guest who believed in this idea and helped bring The Residence to life. None of it would have been possible without you, and we are endlessly grateful to have celebrated this milestone together.
